Here are some of the reactions from listeners to the series:
I love ’Secrets of Harry Potter’ and have wanted to contribute for a long time. The thing that makes it fantastic for me is the way you not only compare the books to religious texts but also to other historical and well known fiction. I am not religious but I have a passion for literature (especially fantasy). Your discussions haven’t converted me but they have given me a new found respect for the bible.
I have come to the opinion that whatever you believe, the most important part of any literature is that you take something meaningful from the text. It could be as simple as a comparison between stories ar as powerful as a life message or moral.

As a former student of English Literature, I am totally captivated by the Harry Potter series, which I also only started reading the year that Book 5 was released. Since then I just have to have every piece of data about the novels and the movies. I enjoy your podcast because of the literary spin and I like the fact that you have rekindled my literary analysis fire. I like the way you analyze the books, comparing them to other literary pieces and historical events.

I have been a big fan of your podcast for several years, I think it was on episode 5 when I started listening. Although I am not Catholic my enjoyment of this podcast has lead me to listen to other shows of yours!

In June I moved 9 hours away from my home for an internship. On the long drive here I needed something to listen to that would keep my mind alert. Being a huge Harry Potter fan I searched for a Potter podcast. This one intrigued me the most, and I started listening. It made the time fly, and I found myself replying out loud in the car to Father Roderick’s statements saying things like “I never made that connection,” and “Oh my gosh, I thought so too!” Thank you for reinforcing my Potter love and personal beliefs while so very far from my family and friends.
